Team Registrar


1.     Description of responsibilities -

  • Completes team registration (collects online registration materials form all players)
  • Delivers registration materials to League or District Registrars by deadlines.
  • Verifies current registration for team, players and coaches at every game.
  • Completes all follow-up activities related to registration, such as player adds, player releases, player transfers,  adult adds, etc.
  • Completes paperwork required for tournaments, travel rosters, application to travel, guest player forms, etc.
  • Responsible to proofread the team roster and compare names and numbers with those on player reg. forms and player passes.

2.    Contact with Davis Legacy Registrar – Player(form 1601) and Adult Registration (form 1628)forms as well as Add/Transfer and Release (1606) forms and Guest player forms and Guest Player Addendum forms are located online at www.dysl.org under Team Registrars and on my front porch in the Davis Legacy Reg. Team Registration

1.    General Registration Info 

  • All players must have birth certificate on file with CYSA.  This only occurs the first time they register for CYSA.
  • Registration binds a player to a specific team for the seasonal year, unless granted a transfer (only three transfers ON to a team are allowed).
  • Maximum roster:  U-9 & U-10 – 14 players        U-11 through U-19 – 18 players
  • Minimum roster:   U-9 & U-10 – 8 players          U-11 through U-19 – 11 players

2.    Team Binder – items are arranged in a particular order and include:

  • Official team roster – first page of binder
  • Coach licenses – immediately behind the team roster
  • Membership forms (form 1601)in alphabetical order (no longer do you need birth certificates in the binder)

3.    Team Roster – aka “THE GOLDENROD”, Official Team Roster.  DO NOT write on it - EVER!  Any notations can result in disqualification from tournaments, league play, and especially Cup play (State, Association).

4.    Player Age Limits –

  • U-10 players may not “play up” in Metro
  • U-11 Comp teams are limited to two U-10 players (playing up)

5.    Coach Registration

  • Head coaches must be over 18.
  • All  coaches and managers need to have an Team Official Registration and Risk Management Disclosure form on file (Form 1628)
  • Davis Legacy requires coaches to have current CPR and First Aid Certification.  The team registrar is responsible for obtaining copies of cards and informing coach when recertification is required.
  • AT LEAST ONE METRO COACH PER TEAM MUST HAVE a REFEREE LICENSE on file with the registrar
  • Required coach license levels:

  • Metro teams are required to have a head coach and an assistant coach; no person may be a head or assistant coach to more than one Metro team.
  • Managers: Managers are now required to fill out the Team Official Registration and Risk Management Disclosure form (Form 1628) but will NOT receive a PASS unless they have a proper license (minimum of F license).

6.    Scholarships – Scholarship requests are sent to the DYSL Scholarship Committee.  Teams must determine how the cost of scholarship applicants will be covered for any funds not approved by the DYSL Scholarship Committee.  Check Manager’s Manual for guidelines. 

7.    Tournaments, In-State (CYSA North) - Tournament applications are sent directly to the appropriate District Tournament Coordinator (see below). 

To apply for any CYSA-sanctioned tournament, mail the following items to your District Coordinator.  You may apply to only ONE TOURNAMENT per weekend!

  • Two tournament applications, original and a copy.
  • Check for the entry fee made out to the tournament.
  • Two stamped envelopes, one to the Tournament Director and one to yourself.
  • If your tournament application is rejected and you are applying to another, you must attach a copy of your rejection letter.      

8.    Tournaments, Out-of-State (not in CYSA North) – For these tournaments, apply directly to the tournament, not through the District Tournament Coordinator.   You must also submit Travel Papers to the District Registrar at least 35 days before the tournament for permission to participate in all out-of-state tournaments.  Travel Paper Packets need to be requested by email from the Davis Registrar; follow the enclosed instructions.  Guest players need a Guest Player Permission Form that must be submitted along with the Travel Papers.
