
The Davis Legacy Olympic U13 team advanced this past weekend in Morgan Hill to the quarterfinal round of the State Cup tournament. Olympic defeated West Contra Costa Alliance, the 3rd ranked team in Northern California, by a 3-1 margin. Olympic took advantage of its scoring opportunities and then fought off repeated surges by Alliance.
The first two goals resulted from one-on-one isolation plays with the opposing goalkeeper. Cristian Garcia scored early in the game and Lee LeVerrier followed shortly thereafter. Olympic's third goal came in the second half from a set shot to the middle that was headed in by Collin Holtz.
The defense was stalwart. Emmanuel Medina anchored the middle, while all the backs were instrumental in thwarting a frustrated Alliance offense.
Coaches Augie Rodriguez and Corey Cuvelier continued their strategic placements to match-up with the opposition. Olympic travels to Turlock to meet the Santa Cruz County Breakers Saturday.
