Guest Player Instructions (i.e. taking a player to a tournament who is not on your team roster)

Important Provisions:

  • Rules for guest players vary depending on whether the event is within CYSA-North or out-of-state (everywhere else).  Please read the bottom of the CYSA Guest Player Form (*1611) for rules governing the use of guest players.  
  • Tournament rules for guest players apply, so be certain to check the rules for the event to which you are applying prior to initiating paperwork for approval.

For a CYSA-North event - Guest players can be used in CYSA-N events only during the period of the Saturday prior to Memorial Day through Labor Day of the current season.  The exception:  Age pure U-14 players have an extension from Nov. 15 to March 15.  

For an out-of-state event - CYSA-South requires that team rosters match the seasonal year.  In other words, you may not play on your new roster for summer tournaments prior to the start of the seasonal year.  Check tournament rules before you travel on your new roster.

To take a Guest Player

  • Completed Guest Player Form –) everything filled in, including all signatures.  You do not mneed any registrar signatures any longer (forms available on DYSL www.dysl.org and CYSA website, www.cysanorth.org)
  • Copy of tournament’s guest player policy.
  • Copy of Player Pass, front and back
  • Copy of host team’s Goldenrod.  
  • If an out-of-state tournament, submit Travel Papers, and amended roster, if applicable.

Make sure to take the original documents (player pass and registration form) and one copy of the guest player form to the tournament.  The guest player form is only good for the tournament it is requested for.

  • A maximum of 7 guest players is allowed, unless the tournament rules state otherwise.  Make sure to check tournament rules regarding policy on the amount of guest players allowed.
  • If the numbers of players on your roster plus the amount of guest players participating in the tournament exceeds a total of 18, you also will need to fill out a Guest Player Roster Addendum form (#1613, available on the DYSL website www.dysl.org CYSA website, www.cysanorth.org). In the top box provide the names of the players on the roster that will not participate in the tournament, in the 2nd box provide the names of the guest players approved for the tournament.  This Addendum form only needs to be used when the total number of players on your team roster plus the number of guest players will exceed 18.
